"MkOne, a 'value fashion
store', has withdrawn a range of clothing after it was informed
that the clothes were made in Burma. The items were labelled
'Made in Myanmar' but the company claimed ignorance of the
country of origin. They have withdrawn the offending articles
(March 2007). Other retailers who refuse to stock clothing
from Burma include M&S, Next, Debenhams and House of Fraser.
However, it is unusual for clothing from Burma to be labelled
accurately. Clothing manufactured under sweat shop conditions
in Burma represents a valuable export for the military junta.
